The Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI), today officially launched O.N.E.: Oras Natin sa Efficiency (One Hour, One Energy, One Nation) at BGC Park Triangle in Taguig City, bringing together government, businesses, and communities in a nationwide effort to promote energy efficiency and responsible energy use.
The O.N.E. Campaign is a nationwide initiative that encourages households, institutions, and businesses to dedicate one hour each week—from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM—to reducing energy consumption through simple yet impactful actions, such as switching off non-essential lighting and minimizing electricity use. The campaign supports the government’s broader demand-side management strategy to enhance energy security and encourage more efficient energy consumption across sectors.
Driving Collective Action for Energy Efficiency
The O.N.E. Campaign highlights the power of collective action in addressing the country’s energy challenges. By encouraging households, institutions, and businesses to adopt a weekly energy conservation practice, the initiative seeks to foster long-term behavioral change while contributing to national energy resilience.
“Through O.N.E, we are empowering every Filipino to take part in securing our nation’s energy future. Small actions, when done collectively, can lead to meaningful and lasting impact,” DOE Secretary Sharon S. Garin emphasized.
For Ayala Land, the campaign presents an opportunity to extend these efforts across its diverse portfolio of estates, residential communities, commercial centers, offices, hotels, and logistics facilities, helping amplify the campaign’s reach and impact nationwide.
Ayala Land Strengthens Leadership in Sustainable Development
As a key partner of the DOE, Ayala Land reaffirmed its strong commitment to sustainability, highlighting its comprehensive energy management initiatives and measurable progress across its nationwide portfolio.
The company currently consumes approximately 1 million megawatt-hours of electricity annually and actively manages this demand through energy-efficient design, advanced technologies, the adoption of renewable energy, and operational innovations.
Ayala Land has also committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
“Ayala Land has long recognized that energy efficiency is fundamental to sustainable development. Through our partnership with the Department of Energy, we are proud to support the O.N.E Campaign and help drive a culture of responsible energy use across communities,” said Ayala Land’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Robert S. Lao.
He added, “Our commitment goes beyond compliance—we are systematically transforming how our estates, buildings, and operations consume energy, as part of our broader sustainability goals.”
Today, 98% of Ayala Land’s commercial properties are powered by renewable energy or supported by renewable energy certificates, with 156 EV charging stations across 64 properties supporting low-carbon mobility. A total of 62 properties with 2.7 million sqm of gross floor area are certified under LEED, WELL, and IFC EDGE standards.
Scaling Energy Management Across the Portfolio
Ayala Land continues to scale energy efficiency initiatives across its portfolio. The company monitors its energy consumption and benchmarks performance against the ASEAN Energy Benchmarking System, the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), and IFC EDGE standards. Its efforts include:
- APMC’s ISO 50001-certified energy management systems, supported by smart technologies and building optimization measures
- 15.3 megawatts of installed solar capacity across 13 Ayala Malls properties, with expansion plans to 38.4 megawatts by 2027
- Green certification covering 91% of Ayala Land Offices’ gross floor area
- Continued expansion of solar energy adoption across logistics and hospitality properties through Ayala Land Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) and Ayala Land Hospitality.
These initiatives demonstrate how energy efficiency is being embedded across Ayala Land’s operations, helping reduce consumption while supporting the company’s long-term sustainability objectives.
Partnership for a More Resilient Energy Future
The launch of O.N.E. underscores the growing collaboration among government, businesses, and communities in advancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
Through Ayala Land’s extensive network of developments and its continued investments in energy management, the partnership helps translate national energy goals into tangible actions on the ground.
By aligning public policy, private sector leadership, and citizen participation, the O.N.E. Campaign aims to build a lasting culture of energy mindfulness—one hour at a time.
