TRO vs Meralco bidding, inihain ng Bayan Muna sa SC

Naghain ng petisyon sa Supreme Court (SC) sina Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares and Rep. Carlos Zarate laban sa Meralco dahil sa pagmamanipula umano ng ‘bidding’ na pabor sa kanilang kompanya.

Hiniling nila sa SC na pigilan ang bidding sa pamamagitan ng Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) sa pangambang magiging sobra-sobra ang pagtaas ng elektrisidad kung papayagan ito.

“The consumers were saved from more expensive electricity rates resulting from Meralco’s self serving supply contracts, when the Supreme Court voided seven agreements by Meralco with companies it owns. Had the self-dealing agreements been allowed, these would result in expensive electricity for the next twenty years,” giit ni Colmenares

Aniya, ikinagulat umano nila nang malamang nag-isyu ang Department of Energy (DOE) ng DC 2018-02-0003, bagong circular na pag-ulit lamang sa lumang circular na pinapayagan nito ang independent third party na pangasiwaan ang proseso sa Meralco’s bidding.

The new circular not only disempowered DOE but also allows Meralco to control the bidding process so that only expensive electricity supply contracts with its favored companies will win the bidding,” giit ni Colmenares.

Umaasa umano sila Colmenares at Zarate na agad na magpapalabas ng TRO ang SC laban sa bidding na gagawin mula September 9 hanggang 11 para sa 1200 MW Atimonan project at 1,700 MW projects.
