The PEP List Awards Year 3.

Ang Destiny Rose ang DayTime SerieS of the Year at ang On The Wings of Love ang Primetime Series of the Year.

Male Breakout Star of the Year si John Arcilla at Female Breakout Star of the Year si Maine Mendoza na parehong hindi nakadalo sa awards night dahil nasa ibang bansa sila.

“We set the rules: each vote must have an active Facebook account. Every voter can vote 100 times a day. And voting must be done within the voting period.

“For some reason, on this 3rd year of THE PEP LIST Awards, our auditing firm uncovered anomalies. Some users had bogus Facebook accounts. Some voted outside the allowed voting period.

“And worst, some voted, not 100 times a day, but as many as 15,000 times a day, with one hacker voting 16 million times over the six week period.

“In the meantime, the PEPsters’ votes were being updated on the microsite twice every day. Therefore, voters could see the numbers as they were coming in.

“We also had a rider in our microsite saying that the official results had yet to be audited by Punongbayan and Araullo.

“This rider turned out to be very important. Because, when the auditing firm began its validation, it uncovered violations and, as it proceeded to tabulate, concluded that a breach of the system had occurred.

“Punongbayan and Araullo invalidated 62 million votes. In the end, 54% of the votes appearing online in real time were not counted.

“This has caused a lot of gnashing of the teeth, tears, and even pain, for the many PEPsters who were doing the right thing. To have the voting process sabotaged by others who resorted to hacking the system to win, meant that the pure joy and hard effort by others were also sabotaged.

“We, the editors of PEP, are as saddened as many of you that this incident happened at all. We had enough safety measures and firewalls protecting the system in 2014, when THE PEP LIST Awards began, and 2015, its second year.

“We have decided to be open about what we know. We are admitting the breach. We are promising to protect your votes better next year. And we are standing by our auditors’ figures.”
