Team PH bida sa SMC-PSA Awards

NAHIRANG na 2019 Athlete of the Year sa isasagawang SMC-PSA (Philippine Sportswriters­ Association) Annual Awards Night sa Marso ang Team Philippines na overall champion sa nakalipas na 30th SEA Games nitong Disyembre.

Dumiliber para sa bansa ang 1,115 Phili­ppine athletes at naka­pagbigay pa ng 149 gold, 117 silver, at 121 bronze medal mula sa 56 sports ng 11-day competition na ginanap sa tatlong major cluster sa Luzon.

Ikalawang overall championship ito sa SEA Games ng Pilipinas.

Gaganapin ang awards night sa Marso 6 sa Centennial Hall ng Manila Hotel kasama ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), MILO, Cignal TV at Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Ito ang ikalawang beses na paparangalan­ ng country’s oldest media organization ang buong Team Philippines bilang Athlete of the Year awardee, una noong 2005 nang magwagi sa unang pagkakataon ang mga Filipino athlete ng overall title sa biennial meet na Pilipinas rin ang nag-host.

Ilan sa nag-ambag sa tagumpay ng bansa sina Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Asian Games golden girls Margielyn Didal, Bianca Pagdanganan, at Lois Kaye Go, World champion Carlos Yulo at Nesthy Petecio, at Tokyo Olympic-bound pole vaulter Ernest John Obienna. (JAT)
