Rogan sa IOC: Olympics mangagamit, peperahan lang ang eSports

Sa naunang pahayag ng International Olympics Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, sinabi nito na hindi dapat sumali ang eSports (electronic sports) sa kanilang organisasyon dahil sa bayolenteng kalikasan nito, dagdag pa umano ang ‘diskriminasyon sa nasabing larangan.

Nakahanap naman ng kakampi ang eSports community kay UFC commentator Joe Rogan, na sinabing mas marumi umano ang Olympics at hindi dapat maglinis-linisan.

Sa kanyang podcast, sinabi ni Rogan na ‘dirty business’ ang Olimpiyada, na gagamitin lang umano nito ang mga eSports player para humamig ng malaking kwarta.

“This is the Olympics trying to cash in. That’s all that is. I think the Olympics are dirty, I think it’s a dirty business. What it’s really all about, is making money,” saad ni Rogan.

“If they did have (eSports) in the Olympics, what they would basically do is, take these guys who are making millions and millions of dollars playing video games at a professional level, and they would make them work for free. And then (the Olympics] would make all the millions and millions of dollars, but say ‘yay, you get to be in the Olympics.’ It’s a dirty business.” dagdag pa niya.

Ito’y sa kabila ng kagustuhan ng gaming community na pormal na makasama ang kanilang larangan sa prestihiyosong patimpalak.

Ngayong katatapos lang na Asian Games 2018 sa Indonesia ay kasali na ang ilang laro tulad ng League of Legends, Arena of Valor at Mobile Legends bilang demonstrative sport. Ibig sabihin ay hindi ito kasama sa huling medal tally ng quadrennial meet.
