Isang sikat na TV star na kung ituring ang indie actress na si Mercedes Cabral sa Middle East dahil sa pagbida nito sa isang Kuwaiti soap opera na may titulong Saq Al-bambu (The Bamboo Stalk).

Nabighani kay Mercedes ang mga manonood ng naturang soap opera sa Kuwait dahil sa kanyang exotic beauty at sa husay ng kanyang pag-arte.

Maraming mga Kuwaiti ang nag-tweet para purihin nila si Cabral sa naturang soap opera. ‘Yung iba ay naglagay pa ng screenshots mula sa isang eksena ng aktres na nagpaiyak sa kanila.

May isang nag-tweet na hawig pa ni Cabral ang supermodel na si Gigi Hadid. Heto ang ilang tweets:

“The actress playing the maid in Saq Al-bambu is pretty. I’m crying.”

“Absolutely loved her performance today.”

“Yeah and she looks just like Gigi Hadid.”

Ang “Saq Al-bambu (The Bamboo Stalk)”, ay isang modern Cinderella story tungkol kay Josephine, a Filipino maid working in Kuwait, who steals the heart of Rashid, the son of her employer.

Ayon sa manager ni Cabral na si Shandii Bacolod, produced ang “Saq Al Bamboo” ng Sabbah Pictures at umeera ito sa Al-Rai TV and MBC Drama in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Dubai in United Arab Emirates and other parts of the Middle East.

Bukod kay Mercedes Cabral, ang ilang Filipino actors na kasama sa cast ng soap opera ay sina Maria Isabel Lopez, Ana Abad Santos, Lou Veloso, Sue Prado, Lilia Cuntapay, and Rhen Escaño. Ang iba ay mga Kuwaiti actors na.

Nakuha nga raw si Mercedes para sa soap opera dahil sa recommendation ng Filipino producer na si Sarah Pagcaliwagan-Brakensiek.

Nagulat nga raw ang mga executives ng naturang soap opera dahil sa magagandang feedback sa performance nito.

Nag-post pa sa kanyang Facebook ang assistant manager ng Sabbah Pictures na si Suzy Karajian dahil sa overwhelming response ng netizens kay Mercedes.

“Everyone is talking about how amazing she is…a marvelous talent.

“Mercedes was so overwhelmed with how she was appreciated in another country, she cried.

“When she did the film ‘Rosita’ in Denmark, the Danish people thought she was a Filipino who trained in acting in Denmark. In some articles, she was even thought of as a Danish-Filipino actor. Now, many think she’s a Kuwaiti actor in this soap.”
