PAYAK mang maituturing ang kanilang koponan, panigurado namang may ibubuga sa anumang laban ang Vovinam national squad na pangungunahan ng mga batikang mixed martial artist ng bansa sa 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Mayo 18-22 sa Soc Son Gymnasium sa Hanoi, Vietnam.

Optimistiko si Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas secretary-general Wharton Chan sa panayam ng Abante Sports na malaki ang tsansang mag-uwi ng mga medalya ang bagong buong Vovinam team na galing rin sa kickboxing squad at Team Lakay fighters na pangungunahan nina Danny “King” Kingad, dating 2019 SEA Games silver medalist at ONE Championship Atomweight contender Jenelyn Olsim at women’s Low Kick 60kgs Kickboxing gold medalist at dating MMA champion Gina “Conviction” Iniong.

“We are really positive that we can get medals or gold medals lalo na having the same mechanic as combat at similarities with Wushu kaya sa tingin ko hindi maninibago ng husto ang ating mga fighters,” pahayag ni Chan sa telepono kahapon.

Bukod sa tatllong fighters, nakatakda ring sumalang sina Carlo Buminaag, Renato Cha Jr. at Zephania Ngaya, na sumasabak rin sa women’s kickboxing. (Gerard Arce)
