Iceland canyon isinara dahil kay Justin Bieber

Napilitan ang Environmental Agency of Iceland na ipasara pansamantala sa publiko ang isa sa pamosong scenic location nila dahil sa pagdagsa ng maraming turista na nakakapagbigay ng negative impact sa lugar.

Sinisisi raw ang pangyaya­ring ito sa Canadian pop star na si Justin Bieber dahil sa naturang lugar kinunan ang music video niya na “I’ll Show You” noong 2015 at simula noon ay hindi na raw nawalan ng tao sa naturang lugar.

Ang Iceland canyon na Fjaðrárgljúfur na isasara hanggang June 2019 ayon sa agency official na si Daníel Freyr Jónsson. Isang paraan daw iyon para mu­ling ma-improve ang vegetation sa naturang canyon.

“This canyon was somewhat unknown. But I think Icelanders have known about it a lot longer. The great increase in foot traffic began after Bieber came. There has been an increase of 50 percent to 80 percent between 2016, 2017 and 2018,” ayon pa kay Jónsson.

Higit na 150,000 tourists ang bumisita sa canyon noong 2017, and the number increased to 282,000 the following year. Ang naturang music video ni Bieber ay na-view ng higit na 440 million times.

“In Iceland you have extreme weather conditions — for exam­ple, springtime can be very difficult for the nature when the snow is melting and everything gets more wet and muddy.

“We need to build a better infrastructure there so we can invite people all year round. It’s just a natural wonder that wasn’t meant to be that popular,” ayon pa sa agency na naniniwala na ang naturang canyon ay na-form 9,000 years ago during the end of the last Ice Age kaya pinanga­ngalagaan nila ito.
