Guiao, Tiu, Webb pumalag sa ‘pagwawasak’ ni Digong sa Gilas

KAHIT pa sabihin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na walang laban ang Gilas Pilipinas laban sa mas matatangkad na Team Italy sa paparating na 2019 FIBA World Cup sa China sa susunod na buwan, hindi apektado si coach Yeng Guiao.

“It doesn’t really bother us,” sabi ni Guiao, na kasalukuyang nasa Spain kasama ang Nationals para sa ilang tuneup games. “I guess you just have to take that from a positive point of view, your attitude should be positive. We should be able to just keep believing in ourselves.”

“We look at it as a challenge. The best approach is to look at it as a challenge, just keep believing in what you can do,” dagdag ni Guiao.
Ang dating miyembro rin ng Gilas Pilipinas na si Chris Tiu, hindi sang-ayon sa deklarasyon ni Digong.

“We maybe on a disadvantage physically, but we have a heart of a champion despite of a height disadvantages. Plus we have a country who is rallying behind our basketball team everytime we compete abroad,” wika ni former PBA player Tiu.

May hugot naman sa kanyang reaksyon si Jason Webb, kasaluku­yang assistant coach ng Magnolia.

“I plan to cheer for our national athletes even if their chances of winning may be slim. I also have no plans of cheering for a country stealing our land from us. Mabuhay ang atletang Pinoy!” sabi ni Webb.

Kamakalawa nang gabi ay sinabi ni Duterte na walang panama ang Pilipinas sa Italy at mas makabubu­ting sa China na lamang pumusta.

“Wala, talo tayo, walang laban. Sa China na lang tayo magpusta,” sabi ni Duterte sa Malacañang kamakalawa nang gabi. (Ferdz Delos Santos)
