DOLE pinakilos sa apektadong manggagawa ng Hanjin

PINAKIKILOS ni Senador Joel ­Villanueva ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) upang bumuo ng inter-agency task force para mabigyan ng madaliang trabaho at livelihood assistance ang mga empleyadong apektado ng pagkalugi ng kompanyang Hanjin.

Ang Hanjin Shipyard Heavy Industries and Construction Co. ay isang South Korean company na tanyag sa shipbuilding. Kamakailan lang ay napaulat na nalubog sa ­halos $400 milyon na pagkakautang ang Hanjin sa mga bangko sa Pilipinas, habang $900 milyon naman sa South Korea.

“We hope that, at this point in time, the Department of Labor and Employment has already convened an inter-agency task force and conducted a well-coordinated and immediate intervention for employment and livelihood assistance to the would-be displaced workers,” ani Villanueva.

Hinimok din ng senador ang ahensiya na paigtingin ang kanilang profiling para sa job-matching, re-tooling at capacity building trainings upang mabigyan agad ng alternatibong trabaho ang mga empleyadong dadanas ng ganitong sitwasyon.

Aniya, ang patuloy na Build, Build, Build program ng gobyerno ay makatutulong din upang makahikayat ang bansa ng mas mara­ming investor sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo na siyang lilikha ng mas maraming local jobs.

“Let us not wait for the workers and their families to starve before we roll-out government interventions. We have to be proactive,” saad ni Villanueva.

“The Build, Build, Build program, if implemented properly, should improve our infrastructure. In that way, we can help our current investors, attract more investments, and create more jobs locally,” dagdag nito.
