Ancajas mas agresibo kontra Santiago

HINDI kuntento si IBF 115-pound ruler Jerwin Ancajas sa huling performance niya nang makaiskor ng unanimous decision win laban sa kapwa Pinoy na si Jonas Sultan noong Mayo.

Sa darating na Sabado (Biyernes sa Amerika), nangako ang ‘Pretty Boy’ ng Philippine boxing, may kartang 30-1-1, 20 KOs, na mas magiging agresibo siya sa pagdepensa sa ikaanim na pagkakataon ng kanyang korona laban kay Mexican Alejandro Santiago (16-2-4, 7 KOs) sa Ora­cle Arena sa Oakland, California.

“The last fight, we weren’t that impressive,” bungad ni Ancajas nang tanu­ngin kaugnay sa kanyang plano sa laban kay Santiago.

“This time, we trained hard and long. We did things that we didn’t do before, and we’ll try our best to come up with a better performance this time.”

Dalawang taon nang hawak ng 27-anyos ang kanyang world belt kaya naman gigil na gigil dito ang Mexican challenger, na unang subok para sa isang world title fight.

Ayon sa boxing analyst na si Ed Tolentino, hindi dapat magkumpiyansa si Ancajas kahit siya ang kampeon at mas maliit ng apat na pulgada ang kanyang kalaban.

“He cannot be overconfident. Santiago is supposed to be just a tuneup for bigger fights ahead, a chance for Ancajas to fine-tune his skills. But the kid Santiago is hungry for a world title,” wika ni Tolentino sa panayam ng ABS-CBN.

Sa panig ng challenger, sinabi nitong gagawin ang lahat maagaw lang ang championship belt ng Pinoy.

“This means a lot to me,” sambit ni Santiago, na dumaan sa tatlong-buwang training para sa labang ito.
