HINIMOK ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na lagyan ng expiration o sunset provision ang pisong dagdag sa pa­sahe sa mga pampasaherong jeep.

Sinabi ni Gatchalian na dapat magkaroon ng safeguard sa pagpapatupad ng provisional increase upang ma­ging balanse ang interes ng mga tsuper at mga pasahero habang mataas ang presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo.

Sa rekomendasyon ng senador, dapat bigyang-diin sa kautusan ng LTFRB na mag-e-expire ang provisional increase hanggang sa pagtatapos ng taon at maaaring palawigin ng tatlo hanggang anim na buwan.

Ito ay depende kung mananatiling mataas ang presyo ng langis.

“Ipinapanukala ko ito dahil alam naman natin na madaling magtaas ng singil sa pamasahe kaysa magbaba nito,” diin ng senador.

Kasabay nito, nanawagan si Gatcha­lian sa Department of Finance at Department of Transportation na rebisahin ang Pantawid Pasada Program upang matukoy kung sapat pa ba ang P5,000 fuel subsidy para sa mga tsuper.

“At the same time, I call on the Department of Finance and Department of Transportation to review the Pantawid Pasada Program to determine if the P5,000 fuel subsidy is enough to mitigate the effects of increasing oil prices on our jeepney drivers,” ayon pa kay Gatcha­lian.
