11 batang Pinoy dinomina ang China math competition

NASUNGKIT ng mga estudyanteng Pinoy ang 11 medalya sa tatlong international math competition sa China.

Ayon sa Mathematics ­Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG) kasunod ng math competition ay isinagawa naman ang math Olympiad format kung saan ay inobliga ang mga estudyante na i-solve ang apat na iba’t ibang problem sa loob ng apat na oras sa dalawang magkasunod na araw.

Ginanap ang 19th China Western Mathematics Invitational­ nitong Agosto 11-16 sa Zunyi City, Wuhan City, at Ji’an City na dinaluhan ito ng mga kinatawang estudyante ng Pilipinas.

Kabilang sa mga nakasungkit ng medalya ay sina Immanuel Josiah Balete, St. Stephen’s High School, gold medal; William Joshua King, University of San Carlos – Cebu, silver medal; Charles Justin Shi, Philippine Cultural College Caloocan, silver medal; Fedrick Lance Lim, Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, bronze medal.

Sa 18th China Girls Mathe­matical Olympiad naman ay namayagpag sina Vanessa ­Ryanne Julio, St. Jude Catholic School, silver medal; Gwyneth Margaux Tangog, Southville International School and Colleges, silver medal; Deanne Gabrielle Algenio, Makati Science High School, bronze medal at Hiraya Marcos, Philippine Cultural College-Main, bronze medal.

Sa 16th China Southeast Mathematical Olympiad naman ay nagpakitang gilas sina Charles Justin Shi, Philippine Cultural College-Caloocan, bronze medal; Issam Wang, Manila Science High School, bronze medal; Stephen James Ty, Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, bronze medal.

Sinabi ni MTG President Dr. Isidro Aguilar na napakahirap ng Chinese math contest kaya sobrang ipinagmamalaki nila ang mga kabataang Pinoy sa inu­wing karangalan. (Juliet de Loza-Cudia)
