Honorable Mayor Remedios Petilla together with the representation of the Korean Churches Consortium for Disaster Relief in the Philippines (KCDP), Rev. Dr. Park Sun Ho and Rev. Baik Sung Beom finalized the draft of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Bahay Kubo***Kimchi Demonstration Farm in Palo City, Leyte.
The formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement is scheduled for March 12, 2014 (Wednesday) at the Palo City Hall. The First Party will be represented by Palo Mayor Remedios Matin L. Petilla and Atty. Ramon N. Pedrosa, President, Peace Foundation. The Second Party will be represented by the KCDP: Rev. Dr. Yeong Hoon (CCIK), Rev. Dr. Lee Tae Geun (PCDP), Rev. Dr. John Oh (WD), and Rev. Dr. Dong Youp Kim (PCK); and the Third Party by Dr. Jose Pepito M. Cunanan of the Philippine Bahay Kubo Movement.
The February 28 Palo trip was also an opportunity for a visit of the ARAW Contingency of the Republic of Korea Joint Support Group. We were hosted by Commander Lee, Chul Won, Deputy Commander Eom Young Hwan and Major Lee, Seung-Jun, Chaplain. Ocular visits to 5 schools, devastated by the Typhoon Yolanda were conducted. These schools are included in the rehabilitation and repairs to be undertaken by the ARAW Contingency, with the support of their manpower, machineries, equipment and resources. We were privileged as well to share in the special Korean meals at their camp, exclusive for their 700 plus personnel. And with Kimchi, of course.
A visit of the proposed site for the 5-hectare Bahay Kubo***Kimchi Demo Farm at Castilla, Palo was conducted as well. This is made available courtesy of the Peace Foundation through its President Atty. Ramon Pedrosa.
The day before, 27 February 2014, the indefatigable Mayor Remedios Petilla met with the Bahay Kubo Movement team at Sulo Hotel in Quezon City: Dr. Benjie Catarroja, Veterinarian, Engr.
