Iginiit ng Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines ang posisyon nito sa proseso ng pagpili ng mga players na sasabak sa sanctioned events ng World Pool Association at Asian Pocket Billiards Union.

Gayundin, sinagot ng tanging governing body ng billiards sa bansa ang isyu hinggil sa ‘fairness and conflict of interest’ na inilutang ng Billiards Ma­nagers and Players Association of the Philippines na pinamumunuan nina Putch Puyat, Perry Marinao at Jonathan Sy.

Sa statement na inilabas ni BSCP spokesman at program director June Diokno, sinabi nitong ang criteria sa pagpili ng mga players ay ibina-base ng BSCP sa playing ability, current form, competition record, at kapabilidad na kumatawan sa organisasyon at sa bansa.

“Contrary to the claims of Puyat and Mariano, the BSCP maintains a strict selection and qualifying system for choosing pla­yers for international events organized and sanctioned by the WPA and APBU,” ani Diokno.

May awtorisasyon at kontrol din umano ang BSCP sa disposisyon o pagtatalaga ng mga spots dahil sa pagi­ging miyembro ng grupo sa APBU at WPA.

Sa pamamagitan ng manifesto, tinanggihan umano ng grupo nina Puyat, Mariano at Sy ang leadership at pamamahala ng BSCP at sa halip ay pumanig sa BMPAP. Ibig sabihin nito ay kumalas sila sa BSCP selection system.

“The BSCP is a private association registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It has members/stakeholders in the billiards industry and community, which include players, businessmen, parlor owners, event promo­ters, managers, technical officials, aficionados and fans. Every full-fledged member is qualified to serve in the board of directors and the roster of officers. Mr. Yen Makabenta is such a member,” anang spokesman.

Hinikayat ni Diokno sina Puyat at Mariano na magsadya sa SEC para malinawan ang isyu ng conflict of interest sa halip na tumakbo sa media.
